1. How long has the College been established?

The Legend International College of Hospitality & Tourism, or better known as LICHT, is a subsidiary of Metroplex Holdings Sdn. Bhd., which also owns The Legend Hotel in Kuala Lumpur,  The Legend Resort, Cherating; Legend Worldwide Holidays; The Mall, The Grand Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur and manages The Legend Water Chalets, Port Dickson and soon to be opened Legend International Water Homes which is also located in Port Dickson.

2. What makes LICHT so unique?

The parent company has good track record and has been in the hospitality and tourism industry for many years. The inception of the LICHT was in line with the corporate vision to meet the increasing demand for skilled work force in the hospitality and tourism industry.

3. Why should I choose LICHT as there are many other institutions of higher learning offering the same courses?

LICHT always believes in delivering the ‘Best Quality Education’. Henceforth, we normally conduct a minimum class size of students to ensure our dedicated lecturers are able to provide special attention and personal care on a face-to-face mode to every student. This is in line with our principle of quality education.

4. Is the College well equipped with the facilities for teaching and learning?

LICHT is well equipped with the basic facilities needed for the course of study such as food & beverage mock room, housekeeping mock room, front office room and kitchen mock room.

In addition, LICHT operates a practical restaurant for students to have a feel of real life exposure where students will learn how to manage a kitchen, prepare food right up to serving the customers. The restaurant is completely run by the students and it is open for business  during the semesters.

5. Is the course fee comparatively affordable?

Definitely yes. LICHT offers the most affordable course fees as compared to other institutions of higher learning. It is value for money whereby the qualification obtained could easily gain employment in different parts of the world.

6. Are the courses approved by the Ministry of Education and National Accreditation Board?

Yes. The courses are approved and fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and National Accreditation Board. Therefore, there are no issues about recognition. 

7. Is the qualification recognised globally or able to gain credit transfers to other universities?

The courses are internationally recognised and thus it has been accredited by the Thames Valley University, United Kingdom. The qualification is able to gain admission or credit transfers to universities in United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland and many other countries.

8. Are the lecturers qualified to teach and have they been in the industry?

LICHT is selective in the recruitment of lecturers and only the most qualified lecturers are recruited. All lecturers have the proper qualifications in their relevant fields and most of them are Masters degree holders and brings along with them years of industrial experience either locally or abroad. Every lecturer possesses a teaching permit from the Ministry of Education.

9. How is the study environment in LICHT?

LICHT comprises students from local as well as abroad. Therefore, it consists of multi-cultural environment from countries such as China, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam, Chechnya, Thailand, Libya, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Oman, Africa and Mongolia.

10. Will I be exposed to hands-on practical and industrial training in the five-star hotels or other establishments?

Throughout the study, students will be exposed to hands-on practical training as LICHT is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities necessary for teaching and learning purposes. Besides, LICHT will arrange the entire industrial placement on behalf of students at the five-star hotels.

11. Are the courses well structured according to the market needs?

The courses are designed to be market-driven. LICHT not only provides students the much hands-on training which could also be acquired during the internship period but most importantly, the courses emphasises the knowledge of management and entrepreneurial skills.

12. Is the College conveniently located?

LICHT is located at the centre of Kuala Lumpur and is conveniently accessible by public transport such as KTM Komuter (Putra Station), STAR-LRT (PWTC Station) and Monorail (Chow Kit Station).

Besides, LICHT is located at The Mall and surrounded by five-star hotels which provide the convenience and suitability as far as the courses are concerned.

13. Will the College provide accommodation and other assistance?

LICHT provides accommodation with reasonable rental charges. However, students are given the option of outside accommodation nearby will be arranged.

LICHT encourages students to approach or seek advice from the Student Affairs Department for any assistance during their course of study.
